Meeting:  Regular monthly EANA meeting was held on Sunday, May 25 at 3:30 PM at 20 Raymond Terrace

Update since April 27 meeting

EANA represented at April 30 Wall Street Property Owners' meeting where Cecil Group presented proposal for public input. EANA president has made phone calls to the Cecil Group's Boston office to weigh-in on plans.

EANA consulted with DPW Traffic Analyst Frank Mauro and Deputy Chief Palmer re safety concerns of residents regarding Norwalk High School students crossing Strawberry Hill Avenue at Alrowood Drive. EANA, with Advocates for Calm Traffic, working toward comprehensive plan to go to Police Commission/Traffic Authority.

Communication with Don Nelson of Clean & Green re EANA taking over an Adopt-A-Spot on East Avenue at the westbound onramp of the I-95. Click here.

EANA sent letter of support on May 5 to Mayor Knopp for preschool proposal for vacated nursing home on Strawberry Hill Avenue. Click here.

EANA Andrews Park proposal discussed briefly at Mayor's Neighborhood Preservation Committee meeting on May 7.  To be placed on next month's agenda (June 4) for presentation by our restoration committee

Andrews Park Restoration Committee (APRC) co-chairs Laurel L. and Marie D. met on May 10 at 10 AM to refine proposal and work on Park master plan. Ongoing committee work by phone and email continues.

EANA represented at Wall Street Master Plan Meeting held by Cecil Group on May 12.  Letter submitted.  Click here. Another public meeting to gather info scheduled by Cecil Group for May 20 at 7:30 PM.

Minutes/Key items discussed at May 25 meeting

Zoning issues: a)134 East Avenue condominium development not yet scheduled for ZBA public hearing.  EANA following and concerned that the development is too close to the Norwalk River and too large for the site. b) cars for sale still appearing on lawn of realtor at East Avenue and Olmstead Place.  EANA in contact with Aline Rochefort of Zoning inspector office

Wall Street Master Plan by Cecil Group: Discussion on plan to date and EANA letter that was submitted May 12. EANA supporting the plan

Property on Strawberry Hill Avenue that was vacated by nursing home:  EANA will F/U with phone call to Mr. Opdahl to check on status of city's plan to purchase property as a pre-school.  EANA supportive of plan.

East Avenue Village District proposal:  Discussion on EANA participation in Zoning Commission public hearing on May 21.  Zoning Commission will review public comments before finalizing the ordinance. May 22  article in The Hour quoted EANA president incorrectly on 2 out of 3 quotes.  Contact with Jim Dean, editor.  He will print Op Ed piece if submitted.  EANA supportive of submitting Op Ed to present EANA mission and goals.

Mayor's Neighborhood Preservation Committee meeting in May:  a) EANA's Andrews Park Committee invited by mayor to present at June meeting  b) City Scan items specific to EANA scans (see next item)

City Scan:  Laurel Anderson presented update.  a)  Partners Cafe still has parking on First Avenue that blocks the sidewalk.  Enforcement needed b) If EANA provides member email/mailing address list (up to 100 names) City Scan will mail brochure to them and include additional 2 sheets of paper of EANA literature.  EANA agrees.  List to be supplied once EANA decides on literature to supply for mailing

Andrews Park Restoration Committee: Update on progress and plans for MNPC presentation

Advocates for Calm Traffic: Speed bumps installed on Raymond Terrace and Myrtle Street working well;  Norwalk High School traffic concerns. Article in the Advocate quoting EANA & ACT members and piece on Channel 12 news. Will check if city is pursuing solutions.

Clean & Green Adopt-A-Spot sign offered to EANA for westbound entrance to I-95 off East Avenue:  EANA agree to take on spot and mend sign that was offered.

Other:  Graffiti at Exit 16.  State needs to be contacted.  EANA will follow

EANA structure: a) Time and day of monthly meeting change?  No. b) Become a 501C3? Pros and cons discussed.
